Spring Greens

I fell in love with this cute tea caddy - the colours just spoke to me and I just had to have it.  It is just so spring-like!  Obviously I needed to stitch some spring cross stitch bits and pieces to go with it, so I immediately went to my go-to place for perfect cross stitch patterns - the lovely Melisa's blog - Pinker n'Punkin Quilting & Stitching.

I've stitched many of Melisa's free patterns before and knew I'd find something on her blog.  I love this house - Dorothy Mae's Spring House - find it here.  I changed the colours (hope you don't mind, Melisa) to match the spring colours on the tea tin.

I also found this Spring pattern with a cute bunny on Melisa's blog and again changed the colours to match my tin.  You can find it here.

I love how this little vignette has turned out.  Thank you Melisa for the lovely patterns.  I think I need to knit a tea cosy to match now!

(The tea tin is available in other beautiful colours and can be found on Amazon.)

Posy of forget me nots

I found this gorgeous pitcher in a charity shop at the weekend!  My first great find for ages!

I absolutely adore the little forget me nots decoration - so pretty and delicate. Look at the pretty pink ribbon.

Better still - it matches a teapot I found ages ago - you can read all about it on my post Cornish Tea.

The pitcher does not have the same Cornish maker's mark - just says Made in England, but it is a perfect match in every way.

Little Vintage Tea Room

Just back from a fabulous holiday visiting family in various parts of England.  One of the best things about being away is the lovely places you come across purely by accident.

One place that I loved was the Shoe Bun Bakery in the little village of Offord D'Arcy in Cambridgeshire.  It is a lovely little vintage tea room attached to the local pub - The Horseshoe Inn.

Of course my favourite part was the vintage crockery that our tea was served in.  There was lovely vintage linen on the table too.  The cakes were home baked - delicious!

If you think you would like to visit, then please check out the Shoe Bun Bakery Facebook page as they are only open on certain days.  A great place for afternoon tea.

Vintage Paisley

Went on a visit to Paisley Museum earlier in the week and then found this amazing vintage tea room just across the road on the High Street - Ta Ta Bella's Tea Room.

Tea and coffee were served in lovely vintage china cups and the cakes were home made and delicious!

Lots of gorgeous vintage bits and pieces to look at and a warm and friendly welcome.

Make sure you go and visit if you are ever in Paisley.  You can find out more about on Ta Ta Bella's website.

Lilacs for Spring

Another tea cosy?!

Just had to knit this one because I loved these shades of purple and lilac together.

Looks good with my vintage Royal Vale lilac tea cups and saucers.

Just right for spring ... well, what passes for spring here in the west of Scotland!

Trying not to think about biscuits today!

Original Vintage Tea Cosies

I was recently given a small box of china and in amongst it I found these two old knitted tea cosies.

They are hand knit and are still in great condition.  I particularly like this one.  It has a separate lining and looks like it has been made from oddments of yarn.

I love the mini pompoms and rosettes used to decorate it.

The other one is much simpler, but still lovely.  I wonder how old they are?

Lovely additions to my vintage collection and I might copy the colour choices in some of my own knitted tea cosies.

Retro Knitted Tea Cosies

I've been busy!

Just finished knitting two retro tea cosies.  The first one is in shades of brown - perhaps a bit of an unusual colour combo for me, but goes really well with this pretty Sutherland fine bone china.

My second one is in pretty shades of pink.  Looks great with this Cath Kidston mug.

If you'd like to purchase either of these or have one  knit in a different colour combination then get in touch.  My email address is on the side panel of my blog.

Time to start another project!

Tea and Crochet

Tea and crochet - what a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Its raining and cold here in Greenock today, so I'm cosy on the sofa listening to Johnny Walker's Sounds of the 70s on Radio 2 - bliss!

Hope you are having a lovely, relaxing Sunday.

Tea Break!

I seem to be on a knitting and crochet spree these days!  Probably something to do with the longer days and better light.  Also got something to do with how awful TV is at the moment.  Even worse now that Call the Midwife, Ripper Street and Mr Selfridge have all finished!  I listen to radio more.
This is my latest retro tea cosy -

Very pale shades of pink and lemon - just right for Easter, I think.

Goes very well with this little vintage trio.

It is Plant Tuscan China (Reg No 780986) - so pretty and I use it quite a lot.

Loved putting this together, although there are fewer cakes now that there were at the beginning!!!!

Cosy Tea Cosies

I've just finished knitting another two retro style tea cosies.

They keep the teapot nice and warm because they have a double layer - unlike many over-priced single layer cosies I've seen in some trendy shops!

I've now started a lovely pastel pink and lemon one.

Grey and Black

Finished knitting another tea cosy!

I've used quite different colours this time - just grey and black.  Not sure?!

I suppose it could add a quirky, retro touch to a trendy black and white kitchen.

Would fit in with a stainless steel kitchen too.

What do you think?

I went into my blog via Chrome recently and noticed some really annoying pop up ads appearing at the very top.  This is an ad free blog and that should not be happening!  I uninstalled Chrome and hopefully that stopped it.  If you see anything like that on my blog, please let me know.

Stitching resolutions

My cross stitch resolution for this year is simple!  I must finish these two gigantic projects that I started many moons ago! I feel a bit g...
