Vintage Yellow Charity Shop Bargain!

I hope this lovely little piece of vintage embroidery brightens up your day - it certainly brightened mine when I found it in a charity shop last week.

The vibrant, bright yellow really caught my eye and at 25 pence - well, would you resist?

These photos were taken without the flash, but it is such a dull day here in Greenock that they don't show it off in its true colours.  I think it has been one of those transfer pieces - can you just see the blue outline beside these stitches.

I'm going to put this away just now - it will be perfect in springtime with a vase of gorgeous yellow daffies.

Have a happy weekend.

Love, Liz

The weather outside my window is dreary with rain, I needed to see this sunny yellow cloth with sweet flowers, thanks for brightening up my morning.

Liz, that is really pretty. Yes, I would have grabbed it right up if I had been there.

Oh...can't wait to get out to out thrifts again. The 25p price tag gives me almost as much pleasure as the cloth....

Well done.

It's a shame that almost none of the younger generation has these skills.

Mind you with the price of linen and cotton these days some of these projects are a major investment.

It's lovely :) That's about a 1/10 of what it'd sell for here!

Nice find, I love this type of embroidery. I was in a few charity shops when I was home just now, but I did not find anything this time.

What a delightful, cheerful cloth Liz. I always feel a little sad too when I think of all the hours that someone spent embroidering it only to be cast away by someone who didn't care - glad you found it though, I know it's found a good home now and will be loved :o)

This is a gorgeous find! I learned to embroider before I was 10, have done it on and off over the years and am just getting back into it again now.
Love your blog, too! ~ Linne

I wouldn't have been able to walk by this one, and at 25p, that's so cheap. I never see doileys at that price here in Australia.

Will, look beautiful with some Daffs.....So nice that it gets a new home and someone appreciates the time and love that has gone into making it.

I can just imagine it in the Spring, such a pretty find. I love squirreling these things away ready to be unpacked afresh months later - it'll be a lovely treat for you in the warmer weather.
