Vintage College Scarf & Party Games

Does anyone out there remember when college scarves were popular in the 70s?

I found mine from when I attended Jordanhill College in Glasgow (vintage now?!!).  I remember we all wore them, there was quite a fashion for them for a while.  We wore them with our maxi coats and flared trousers.  I had another one in lilac stripes, not a real college scarf, but I think that's what they were all called in general.

They remind me more of students in the 50s wearing them with duffle coats, but I suppose this must have been a revival.  Love the college emblem.  Made from pure wool - had to be hand washed.  Saw lots of folk who had put them in the washing machine (yes, we had them in those days) and they had gone a bit out of shape and the colours had run!!!

Party Games

Are you having a bit of a do in the coming weeks?  If so, I thought I'd help you out by introducing a few fun party games from the 50s to liven up the dullest of events!

These are from the vintage Citizen Housewife book which I wrote about ages ago, but I think these are very apt for the season!

Have fun!
Love, Liz

Think I'll stick to 'pass the ice cube' or orange at my work 'do' next week. How fab to still have some school uniform, mine's long gone.

How interesting! We did and still do not have school uniforms in Switzerland although there was a discussion about it. The scarf looks great! The games are funny! Christa

Lovely scarfs. I noticed they are wool and I am allergic to wool so nothing in my closet is wool.
