Charms & Memories

I knew it was somewhere!

After looking for ages I eventually found my old silver charm bracelet.  My Granny got me it for my 18th birthday - so it is well and truly vintage by now!  Haven't worn it for many, many years.  It could do with a bit of a clean!

The 18 and 21 charms are there for obvious reasons.  The other charms mean something too.  I loved drinking tea even then!

The little hot water bottle has a "potty" inside when you open it up.  I was always cold and needed a hot water bottle!  Not so sure about the potty!

Egyptian bust - loved anything to do with ancient Egypt when I was young.  I actually wanted to be an archaeologist when I was in my teens.

Holland and Amsterdam - my favourite place when my friend and I went on an InterRail holiday when we were students.

Last but not least - a Greenock charm.  No need to explain that one!

What great memories this charm bracelet has brought back!
Did you have one?

Love, Liz

Hi Liz, so glad you found your bracelet, it's lovely that each charm means something to you. I did have one, and can remember a scotty dog and ballerina, but lost it long ago.

Have a lovely week xxx

I've always wanted one so as a special treat I started one for my birthday this year and I love it, though at the moment there are only three charms - an igloo because they look so cosy and self contained (and I really want to stay in one to see what it's like), a pair of socks for my love of sock knitting and a pineapple because it's such a handsome fruit.

What a super heirloom! I never had one, but my older glamorous cousin Suzanne did, and we always looked forward to spotting the latest addition whenever we went to visit! Your looks great against the tartan.

Yes I had one. My father bought it for me when I was thirteen, and every few months would buy me a new charm for it. It 'disappeared' many years ago along with an art deco piece of jewellery that belonged to my late mother. I always have loved everything miniature.

A special bracelet - I used to hanker after one when I was younger! When my lovely mother-in-law died, her charm bracelet charms were divided up amongst all her daughters, daughters-in-law and grand-daughters, so we each have a few special mementoes. I have added a few charms to my daughter's bracelet, but so far not to mine. The older charms are much sweeter though!

I got one for my 7th birthday with 7 charms on it and got given them by my Nan and my parents every year until it was full. It weighs a ton! I should hunt it out and do a post too.

I never had one but my daughter did, until one by one, all the charms were lost!

Did I have one - Yes I did - and I still have it, but it is quite black at the moment. The bracelet and my first charm - an antique telephone were by 21st Birthday present from my Mum and Dad - so many other charms on it now and each with a memory of people and places. Ruth.

So neat. I still have my old silver charm bracelet too. I wish I could get up the nerve to actually wear it!

I have one somewhere with not many charms on. The charm I do remember is a spinning world. My boyfriend bought it for me and said, "I'd like to give you the world." Ahh! He's my DH now.

Very nice! I have two. once with destination shields and one with regular charms. Got them as a child and are treasured in my jewelry box.
Do people still collect charms anymore? Or are the pandora bracelets the modern version of charms?

I have one from the '70s that is full. Too noisy to wear!

My favourite is Edinburgh Castle, it opens like yours and reveals a cannon!

I was given a Chamilla bracelet recently, similar to Pandora but mine is a bangle. The person who gave it to me remembers my old silver one and wanted me to have new memories
